Biomimetic Dentistry

Biomimetic Dentistry ensures teeth to be restored with unmatched strength and longevity, preserving their natural structure while preventing cracks and failures for long-term dental health.

At Willerby Dental Care, we are committed to providing the highest level of care for our patients. That’s why we believe in Biomimetic Dentistry — a science-driven approach that prioritises the natural biomechanics of a tooth.

Biomimetic Dentistry focuses on mimicking the natural biomechanics of the tooth, preserving as much of its original structure as possible. Restorations using this approach have a 300%–400% higher bond strength compared to conventional methods, significantly reducing stress on the tooth.

One of the key aspects of Biomimetic Dentistry is addressing cracks in teeth, which often develop after years of wear from traditional fillings. Left untreated, these cracks can lead to catastrophic failures, rendering the tooth unrestorable. By following Biomimetic Protocols, we can prevent such failures before they occur.

Catastrophic failures are typically preceded by biological and clinical failures—subtle signs of weakening that patients may feel as occasional twinges of discomfort. These often arise in restorations that have not stood the test of time. However, since the introduction of Biomimetic Protocols in 2007, they have maintained an impressive failure rate of less than 1%.

By carefully analysing cracks and creating a BIOBASE, we can reinforce the tooth and prevent further cracks from spreading toward its vital core. This approach helps maintain the tooth’s health and function for the long term.

Oral Exams
Oral exams can help detect a variety of issues including cavities, plaque build up, gingivitis, and alignment problems. At our practice we utilizes advanced technology to give your mouth an extensive examination and provide you with the most accurate diagnosis of your oral health. During your exam, your teeth and gums will be thoroughly evaluated to detect any current or potential issues that need to be addressed. In order to ensure you maintain a beautiful smile and the highest level of oral health, we recommend that you receive a routine oral exam at least twice a year.
